Steve Griffin, Chief Information Officer
Mr. Griffin has 22 years of experience in the educational technology market. As a senior executive,
he has led teams that have developed international eLearning technical standards, enterprise eLearning
tools and services. Most recently, as Technical Director and COO of an international eLearning
standards organization, he led teams that developed the international technical standards that have
become the basis for eLearning product and content interoperability worldwide. He also contributed to
important related reference models, such as SCORM, which is used throughout the eLearning industry and
NATO-affiliated Departments of Defense. To provide companies with greater assurance of eLearning
technology interoperability, he developed and launched an International eLearning technology
conformance program.
Mr. Griffin has traveled extensively internationally speaking about eLearning technology and
standards. He was Executive Director of a European eLearning Consortium that promoted best practice
and conformance in standards-based eLearning. He has also served as an invited expert on the
Russian Parliament's committee on eLearning. While CTO at Eduprise, Inc., he led teams that
developed an enterprise course management system and provided eLearning services including hosting of
multiple course management systems, help desk, instructor and content developer training,
integration, and content development in the US Higher Education sector.
Mr. Griffin served as Technical Director at the Institute for Academic Technology at the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he led teams supporting research into the
development and organizational support of technology for learning. He received a Bachelor of
Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
